"Also known as avant-garde, experimental films are rare and totally unpopular. Some people may spend their entire lives without ever catching a glimpse of an experimental movie. Most will never sit through one." - Elements of Cinema.

Formosa1C - Robert Ross, 3', HD video, London, 2013.
In the centre of the contemporary metropolis, the furnace is banished into the middle of the night, its produce driven over the next day. This real-time observation of a passing tarmac gang shows how the furnace implies a rhythm on its operation and operators; from the choreographed team movement to the precise co-ordination between vehicles.
Formosa 1C - part of the artist's continuing single and multi-screen series.
Available 132Mb 1080HD Internet ready.
Also at 35Mb/s on negotiation - www.piedwagtail.org
Slider! - Simon Mclennan, 5'40", HD video, UK, 2013.
Sliding as negotiation. A meditation on the perception of everyday objects and actions. Edited to achieve a dance-like quality. Sound stretched to produce a music concrete score.
Small Worlds - Nicky Heinen, sculpted sound, 4’09”, DV.
Derek Shiel – sound sculptures
Sonja Grossner – sound sculptures
Nicky Heinen – flute and flute parts
The video film was created with the video feature of my small digital camera. I have always been intrigued by looking down the inside of my flute and seeing the kaleidoscope of silvery reflections.
On a beautiful sunny day by a lake, I decided to experiment with this kaleidoscope effect by pointing the lens of the camera down the foot joint of my flute and filming the sun’s sparkling, twinkling star like reflections on the water. The effect of the lake’s reflections on the inside of the silver foot joint I thought were quite magical. Co-incidentally, the SMALL WORLDS music synchronised very well with the video film.
Park House - Simon Mclennan, 1'55", super8 mm film, UK, 2010.
Inspired by memory, loss of childhood and urban alienation, the film features live music accompaniment by Paul Gardner and spoken text accompaniment by the film maker.
Guilt and Depression - Tamsin Williams, DV, UK, 2012.
A short film by performance artist Tamsin Williams and cameraman Dan Bridge shown at Synergy's 'Wild Horses' theatre performance with Bandbazi during the Brighton Fringe Festival in May 2012. This was shown as part of series of short films by various artists. It highlights the increasing madness of a commuter striving to maintain a foothold in banking during the depression.
Adrift In Shallow Waters - Carolina Diaz, HDV, UK, 2013.
A short dance film.
Vanita - Veronique Maria, 5', HDV, UK, 2013.
Veronique Maria has been making sculpture and paintings since the 1970s . Occasionally she has used video to explore the performative aspects of her practice. In December 2012 she received an Arts Council Grants for the Arts Award which enabled her to learn editing on FCPX. Vanita is her first self filmed and self edited video. It is both a technical exercise, and an exploration into what she is calling 'moving paintings.' VANITA means Woman in Hindu, and VANITAS is the still life painting style which was intended to remind the viewer of the brevity of life.
